Colorless or almost colorless thick liquid. Relative density is 1.0736 - 1.077, refractive index is 1.4940 - 1.4980, flash point is above 93 °C. Soluble in 4 volumes of 70% ethanol and oils. Acid value <1.0, ester value is 270 - 295. It has a strong herbal-green odor and fresh woody fragrance. Due to the different positions of the acetoxy group, the top note of the product is sometimes woody and sometimes slightly anise-sweet. It has strong diffusivity and is long-lasting and stable.

Tricyclodecenyl acetate is widely used in fragrance formulations for soaps, detergents, and air fresheners. It is also suitable for fragrances such as gardenia, lily of the valley, lilac, jasmine, narcissus, heather, lavender, aldehydic-woody, fresh-fruity, and modern new fragrance types. If used properly, it can achieve good aroma effects and show special aromas. It cannot be used as an edible flavor.
