Colorless to slightly yellowish liquid. Boiling point 244ºC, relative density 1.010-1.020, refractive index 1.493-1.496, flash point above 93ºC. Soluble in 4 volumes of 70% ethanol and oils. It has a sweet, green, dry grassy fragrance, rose-lily of the valley aroma, with fruity, spicy, and balsamic notes. It has a background of storax and floral scents. The aroma is mild and the staying power is average. The taste is a warm, sweet, and fruity-grassy strawberry and raspberry flavor.

STYRALLYL PROPIONATE is the most useful variety among phenethyl alcohol derivatives and can be used in many good perfumes. It has a very good effect when used in two floral fragrance formulations of rose and lily of the valley. It is also suitable for jasmine, ylang-ylang, magnolia, carnation, lavender and oriental and woody fragrances. It is a modifier and enhancer for floral fragrances. It can also be used for tobacco flavoring and in edible flavors such as honey, strawberry, raspberry, apricot, peach and other fruity flavors.
