Colorless to light yellow viscous oily liquid, after a long time of storage, the color can become dark. It has an unpleasant thiophene smell, and when highly diluted, it has a nutty aroma. Boiling point 103 °C (133 Pa), or 135 °C (933 Pa). Very soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, benzene and chloroform.
