Product Description

Niacin is White crystalline or crystalline powder, odorless or slightly odorous, slightly acidic taste. Melting point 234-237 ºC. Easily soluble in hot water, hot ethanol, alkali-containing water, propylene glycol and chloroform, slightly soluble in water and ethanol, 100mL water can dissolve 1.6g at room temperature, insoluble in ether and ester solvents. 1% aqueous solution PH is 3.0-4. Stable to heat, acid and alkali. Rats oral LD505-7g/kg, ADI value is not specified (ECC, 1990)

Applications

This product is a vitamin drug. Together with nicotinamide, it is collectively called vitamin PP. It is used for anti-pellagra and can also be used as a blood vessel dilator. It is widely used as an additive in food and feed. As a pharmaceutical intermediate, it is used in the production of isoniazid, nicotinamide, nikethamide, and inositol nicotinate.
