Ethyl 2-methylbutyrate is a colorless, oily liquid with strong aromas of apple, pineapple and unripe plum peels. Boiling point 133 °c, melting point -99 °c. Soluble in ethanol and propylene glycol, miscible in most non-volatile oils, extremely difficult to dissolve in water.
