γ-Ylangene is a terpenoid compound that is commonly found in the essential oils of plants such as Cananga odorata. Cananga odorata is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia. Its flowers are yellow and star-shaped. The essential oil of Cananga odorata obtained by steam distillation contains a variety of components, and γ-Ylangene is one of them.
