Thymol can be used for root canal disinfection, pulp soothing and the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity. Its oil solution can be used to treat skin diseases caused by fungi and actinomycetes; taken orally, it can expel hookworms and treat pulmonary actinomycosis.It is a temporarily permitted edible flavor.
