Methyl butyrate is Colorless liquid. It has the aroma of apples and cheese. When the concentration is less than 100 mg/kg, it has the aroma of bananas and pineapples. The boiling point is 102ºC, the flash point is 14ºC, the refractive index (nD20) is 1.3873, and the relative density (d2525) is 0.8981. It is miscible with ethanol and ether, and slightly soluble in water (1:60).
The natural product exists in grapefruit juice, apple juice, jackfruit, kiwi fruit, mushrooms, etc.
