2-Ethylbutyric acid is colorless volatile liquid with a faint cheesy and musty odor and an acidic taste. The boiling point is 121.0 °C or 99 °C (2400 Pa), the vapor pressure is 10.67 Pa (0.08 mmHg, 20 °C), the flash point is 25.6 °C, and the melting point is -9.3 °C. It is miscible with ethanol and ether, and 1 ml is soluble in 65 ml of water.
