1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone is an orange-red crystalline solid under normal temperature and pressure and has certain solubility in water. This product is an important dye intermediate. It is Disperse Brown GL (C.I.58050) itself. It is used to manufacture Disperse Blue HSR, Disperse Blue 5R, Disperse Blue B, Disperse Deep Blue RB, Acid Anthraquinone Blue R, Weak Acid Brilliant Blue RAW, Weak Acid Green GS, Vat Grey BG, Vat Brown BR, etc.; and to produce the intermediate 1,4-diaminoanthraquinone. 1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid can be obtained by sulfonating 1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone.
