Colorless liquid. Boiling point 220ºC, relative density 0.900-0.914, refractive index 1.4510-1.4580, flash point 90ºC, soluble in 3-4 volumes of 70% ethanol and oils, acid value <2.0. It has a fresh and sweet fragrance, with an aroma similar to orange leaves, terpene-free bergamot and pears, and also a floral aroma similar to lavender. The fragrance is relatively penetrating but not lasting enough. Its taste is sweet and fruity.
