It is the shiny flaky white crystals, and would turn into dark colors when it exposed to light. There would be a strong unpleasant odor with high concentration of indole, but the flavor would change into oranges and jasmine after highly diluted (concentration <0.1%).It is soluble in alcohol, ether, hot water, propylene glycol, petroleum ether and most of the non-volatile oil, insoluble in glycerin and mineral oil.
