1-Hexadecanethiol is widely used as a polymer molecular weight regulator and chain transfer agent in the field of polymer synthesis. It is irreplaceable, especially in the synthesis of ABS resin and rubber. It can also adsorb on noble metals to form self-assembled monolayer ordered films (SAMs). These films have the characteristics of easy preparation, good stability, pre-surface designability, and the ability to protect and strengthen the metal surface. Therefore, they have attracted much attention in the fields of microelectronics and electrochemistry. In addition, 1-hexadecanethiol compounds are also important intermediates and raw materials for the synthesis of fine and pharmaceutical sulfur-containing chemicals.
