1,3,6-Hexanetricarbonitrile is an important intermediate for many industrial application products. For example, the tricarboxyl group that can be used as a detergent can be obtained by hydrolysis. The corresponding hydrogenation of tricarbonitrile produces 1,3,6-triaminohexane, which can then be phosgenated in a further step to form 1,3,6-hexane triisocyanate. This compound is used as an important basic structural unit in polyurethane (PU) chemistry, such as in the preparation of polyurethane adhesives or polyurethane coatings.
