Behenyl Alcohol (Docosanol), also known as behenyl alcohol, is a long carbon chain saturated fatty alcohol. It appears as white solid crystals, granules or wax blocks. It is insoluble in water and soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform and mineral oil. Melting point: 68-72 °C. Boiling point: 180 °C/0.22 mmHg. The raw material for production comes from the seeds of cruciferous plants.
