Applications

1-Pentanethiol is slightly soluble in water and readily soluble in alcohols and ethers. It is obtained by the reaction of n-pentanol with hydrogen sulfide under the catalysis of thorium dioxide. It is a raw material for organic synthesis and is mainly used in the organic synthesis of sulfur compounds.
