HEXYL ALCOHOL is an edible spice permitted for use. It is often used in fragrance bases and formulated essential oils (such as geranium oil) as part of the top note. It can also be used in trace amounts in violet, osmanthus, magnolia, and ylang-ylang fragrances to modify or increase the fresh and tender aroma. It can also be used in trace amounts in edible coconut formulations, berries, and various fruit fragrances.
