Flaky white crystals or powder. With a strong fragrance similar to vanillin. Melting point is 85-86 °C. 1 g is soluble in 20 mL of 95% ethanol. Easily soluble in most vegetable oils, edible solvents and essential oils. Extremely difficult to dissolve in water.
