Magnesium fluorosilicate, chemical formula MgSiF6 · 6H2O. Molecular weight 274.48. White tripartite crystal or white crystalline powder. Specific gravity 1.788. Will weathering and lose crystal water. Dehydration and decomposition above 80 ° C, releasing silicon tetrafluoride gas. Easily soluble in water, insoluble in alcohol. It is obtained by neutralizing fluorosilicic acid with magnesium carbonate or magnesium hydroxide. Mainly used as a hardener and waterproofing agent for concrete, in the manufacture of ceramics, and also as an anti-moth agent for textiles and fur.
