1,4-Bis(aminomethyl)benzene is a colorless liquid with an almond-like odor. It turns yellow when exposed to air for a long time. The relative density is 1.055, the boiling point is 248ºC, the refractive index is 1.5700, and its viscosity is similar to that of dibutyl phthalate. It is soluble in water and organic solvents.

It is mainly used for manufacturing high-performance epoxy resin curing agents that are heat-resistant, non-toxic, suitable for underwater construction, and can cure rapidly upon heating. It is a raw material for polyurethane resins and synthetic functional epoxy resins. It is also applied in aspects such as rubber additives, photosensitive plastics, pesticides, coatings, nylon products, fiber finishing agents, rust inhibitors, chelating agents, lubricants, and paper processing.
