Potassium Carbonate
K2CO3; Anhydrous potassium carbonate ;POTASH; potassium carbonate anhydrous; POTASSIUM CARBONATE USP; Pearl dust; Kaliumcarbonat; BUFFERED PEPTONE; dipotassiumcarbonate; PotassiumCarbonateFcc
Potassium Carbonate is colorless crystals or white granules. Extremely soluble in water. Its solution is strongly alkaline. When cooling its saturated aqueous solution, glassy monoclinic crystal hydrate 2K2CO3·3H2O crystallizes out. Density is 2.043. It loses crystal water at 100°C. Insoluble in ethanol, acetone and ether. Strongly hygroscopic. When exposed to air, it can absorb carbon dioxide and moisture and transform into potassium bicarbonate. It can be obtained by the reaction of potassium hydroxide and carbon dioxide.
