Product Description

Potassium Carbonate is colorless crystals or white granules. Extremely soluble in water. Its solution is strongly alkaline. When cooling its saturated aqueous solution, glassy monoclinic crystal hydrate 2K2CO3·3H2O crystallizes out. Density is 2.043. It loses crystal water at 100°C. Insoluble in ethanol, acetone and ether. Strongly hygroscopic. When exposed to air, it can absorb carbon dioxide and moisture and transform into potassium bicarbonate. It can be obtained by the reaction of potassium hydroxide and carbon dioxide.

Applications

1. Potassium carbonate can be used to produce optical glass, which can improve the transparency, strength, and refractive index of the glass.
2. It is also used in the production of welding electrodes to prevent arc breakage during welding.
3. For the production of vat dyes and their printing and dyeing and ice dyeing.
4. Used as an adsorbent to remove hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide.
5. Potassium carbonate mixed with soda ash can be used as a dry powder fire extinguishing agent.
6. It can also be used as an auxiliary raw material for acetone, alcohol production, and as an antioxidant in rubber production.
7. Potassium carbonate aqueous solution can be used for the cooking of cotton and the degreasing of wool.
8. It is also used in the production of inks, photographic drugs, polyesters, pharmaceuticals, electroplating, tanning, ceramics, building materials, crystals, potassium soaps, and pharmaceuticals.
9. Heavy potassium carbonate is mainly used as a raw material for picture tube glass shells, and is widely used in glass and special glass raw materials for decarbonization of large fertilizers.
