Product Description

M-Chloroaniline is a colorless liquid. Its color darkens during storage. The melting point is -11 to -9 °C, the boiling point is 230 - 231 °C (95 - 96 °C / 1.47 kPa), the refractive index n20D is 1.5940, the relative density is 1.206, the flash point is 123 °C. It is insoluble in water but soluble in ethanol, ether and acid solutions.

Applications

M-Chloroaniline is an intermediate for the herbicide chlorpropham and also an intermediate for the diuretic and antihypertensive drug hydrochlorothiazide in medicine. It can be used in the production of azo dyes. Its hydrochloride is an ice dye color base, which is used as a developer for the dyeing and printing of cotton, linen, and viscose fabrics. In medicine, it can be used to prepare antipsychotic drugs such as chlorpromazine hydrochloride and perphenazine.
